Halle Berry Fires Back At Olivier Martinez In Explosive Filing, Blames Him For Son's Behavior

Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have been at each other’s throats after the latter claimed that the actress had attacked their 13-year-old. Olivier reached out to court seeking sole custody of their son, Maceo. However, now, Halle has finally responded, calling Olivier out over abuse claims and interfering with her son’s needs.

Halle Berry formally responds to Olivier Martinez’s filing, requesting sole custody

Halle Berry is not holding back in her response to Olivier Martinez’s abuse allegations. She has formally filed her response, claiming that her ex-husband is the root cause behind Maceo’s recent behavioral issues at school. In the response submitted by the actress on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, she accused Olivier of repeatedly interfering with their teenage son’s education and therapeutic needs.

According to a Page Six report, Halle accused Olivier of involving the teenager in their legal disputes and undermining her parenting decisions. The outlet also reported that she had sought sole custody of Maceo in the case. However, the judge declined her request. She has further urged the court to grant her the final decision-making authority on education, medical care, and mental health issues if the parents cannot reach an agreement after 72 hours of trying.

The actress has alleged that Olivier has repeatedly blocked recommendations for Maceo’s education and mental health care over several years. She has also claimed that he encouraged their son to make major decisions about school and treatment himself, and drew him into the parents’ conflict. Her lawyer has also filed findings that reportedly suggest that Olivier has failed to comply with orders and interfered with services.

Halle Berry claims her son Maceo’s behavior took a turn for the worse after the TRO

Halle Berry has also claimed that Maceo’s behavior has been getting significantly worse since the temporary restraining order took effect on October 1, 2026. The response referenced an October 10, 2026, letter from Park Century School Associate Head of School Sara Love, along with concerns from school personnel including Jon Hay. According to the actress’s lawyer, the correspondence has alleged “an escalating disregard for school rules, authority, and appropriate peer interactions at a critical juncture in Maceo’s development.”

The school concerns cited in the filing include disruptive behavior, harassing a younger student, using inappropriate language, and throwing objects. Maceo also reportedly received a full week of detention beginning October 12, 2026. It was also revealed that Maceo has claimed he will attend a different area school next year. Halle pointed out that his statement reflects a belief that he can make major decisions about his future without his parents’ agreement.

She has also submitted a prior correspondence report from September 2026, which noted Maceo’s behavior. Halle has claimed that the temporary restraining order has significantly improved Maceo’s behavior, as she had always been the parent responsible for enforcing responsibilities and discipline. Halle urged the court to order Maceo to attend individual therapy every week for at least a year, along with conjoint sessions with her.

Her attorneys also accuse Olivier Martinez and his legal team of misleading the court and leaving out key information. They have asked the judge to be wary of his testimony, and also argued that Maceo’s account should be considered carefully as it could cause further emotional harm. Halle also disputes Olivier’s allegations concerning her alcohol use and opposes his requests for alcohol testing and related restrictions.

Additionally, she has asked the court to reject his financial request and proposed that she and Olivier communicate about parenting Maceo through the app, Our Family Wizard. Her suggested rules would limit each parent to one non-emergency message per day and require responses within 48 hours for routine matters and five hours for urgent ones.
