Hyderabad: Senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Tuesday dismissed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s demand for an explanation on his Monday visit to Delhi, saying it was above board, open, and he, along with two party leaders, met with senior lawyers to discuss issues related to different cases.

“One of them is the cash for vote case in which Revanth Reddy was caught red-handed. The Supreme Court will hear this case on Wednesday and BRS has impleaded in it,” Harish Rao said. “For the last four and a half years, Revanth has been surviving on the stay orders. Once these are vacated, the CM post will be gone, and he will go to jail. That is why he was creating a drama about my visit to Delhi yesterday,” Harish Rao added.

“Revanth Reddy has two roles in the cash for vote case. He is the defendant as well as the prosecutor as the home minister of the state. To defend himself, he hired two top lawyers – Mukil Rohatgi, and Siddharth Luthra – while for the government side prosecuting the case, just one lawyer Gaurav Agarwal was hired,” he said.

“We discussed with lawyers our representation in this case, along with the MLAs defection case coming up in the Supreme Court soon, as well as the options in the event we lose our appeal in the High Court on the Kaleshwaram commission report,” Harish Rao said.

Harish Rao also thanked Revanth Reddy for “finally accepting that the Kaleshwaram project has not ‘collapsed’.” With El Nino coming, he realised the importance of Medigadda barrage because next year could be a drought year, the BRS leader contended. Kaleshwaram works at three levels — when the rain is good, water is pumped from Mid-Manair; when they are average, from Sripada Yellampalli; and when drought strikes, only Medigadda will have water and the barrage comes into play, he said

On Revanth Reddy holding a public meeting at the same time as that of BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao on Monday, Harish Rao said, “he deliberately chose to speak in the same district and at the same time as KCR’s public meeting, exposing his insecurity and narrow mindset. Revanth Reddy’s status became clear with the fact that only 4 lakh people watched his speech online, compared to the 36 lakh views for KCR’s speech.”
