Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley, has shared how her newborn son Aster has been hospitalised six times in his five weeks
Harry Potter actress Bonnie Wright has shared an update on her newborn son after revealing he has been to hospital six times in just five weeks.
The 35-year-old, best known for playing Ginny Weasley in the film franchise, welcomed her second child with husband Andrew Lococo, 42, in September.
Bonnie opened up about the first few weeks of life with baby Aster in an Instagram post on Friday, explaining that he has needed medical treatment for a condition the family knew about before his birth.
Sharing a photograph of herself holding her little boy, she wrote: “Our sweet little Aster has been to the hospital 6 times in his 5 weeks of life. Getting treatment for a condition we knew he’d be born with.”
She went on to praise her son for how he has handled the difficult start to life, describing him as “such a strong, chill little baby”.
Bonnie – who also has Elio, three with Andrew – thanked the people around her for their support
“Feeling so lucky to have such supportive family and friends. Helping take Elio to preschool, cooking us meals, checking in on us. The village is possible, text/call your pals,” she added.
The actress has not shared further details about Aster’s condition. Her post was met with messages of support from followers, who sent their love to the family and wished the little boy well.
Bonnie first announced Aster’s arrival last month, revealing that he had been born at home on 28 September. The actress shared the news alongside a series of photographs of her newborn, whose full name is Aster Sky Wright Lococo.
“Say hello to our son Aster Sky Wright Lococo born at home on the 28th September,” she wrote. “Named after the star shaped flower.”
She also revealed that his big brother Elio, had already taken to his new sibling. “Our little star has been showered in love by his big brother Elio. Thank you universe for my loving bundle of boys!” Bonnie added.
The pictures showed Aster sleeping in a striped babygrow, as well as resting against his mum’s chest. Another photograph showed Elio leaning towards his baby brother’s pushchair.
Bonnie also gave a special mention to the two people who supported her during the home birth, thanking them for “guiding us through the birth portal”.
Bonnie announced she was pregnant with her second child in April, sharing pictures of Elio resting against her growing bump.
“Two babies on my lap,” she wrote at the time. “Our second little earthling joining us this autumn!!”
Away from sharing family updates, the actress has previously spoken about how becoming a mum has changed her outlook on life.
In an interview last year, she revealed that watching Molly and Arthur Weasley raise their children in Harry Potter had made her think about the kind of parent she wanted to be.
She praised the fictional couple’s unconditional love for their family and their ability to make the most of what they had, admitting: “I need to parent more like the Weasleys.”
Bonnie has also been open about the less glamorous side of bringing up a young child. Reflecting on motherhood last year, she wrote: “Parenting is beautiful and brutal in equal measure.”
She explained that the reality of everyday life with Elio could be very different from the peaceful family moments she had imagined, with simple tasks such as getting him dressed sometimes proving a challenge.
