In a joint Rolling Stone interview with Thom Yorke, Harry Styles shared that he used to feel that being out anywhere except at home was not safe. The singer went on to reveal that once one of his ex-girlfriends came from London, he thought she would think he was crazy if he just spent the time sitting at home.
This led the singer to go out and explore places, and he eventually realized that it was fine to be out. According to Styles, his anxiety kind of broke, and it has now changed his life because he feels that’s how someone could be connected to the world. Harry Styles said:
“I had a girlfriend who was very outgoing, and she was coming to London and I was like, ‘Oh, if we just sit in my house for three days, she’s gonna think I’m nuts.’ So we walked everywhere, and it was this realization for me: ‘Oh, it’s fine to be outside.’ It kind of broke that thing. Now, it’s changed my life in such a big way, because it’s how you stay connected to the world.”
Harry Styles also talked about the importance of staying connected to the outside world, especially for an artist. Styles is now quite fine with going out, which used to scare him, and for that, he credited his ex-girlfriend. Even though the singer has overcome his public anxiety, it’s not the same for him to share details of his personal life. In a 2022 interview, Harry said that getting photographed with someone in public never could justify him being in a ‘public relationship’ with that person. According to Styles, not speaking about his sexuality in public benefited him positively. Sharing more about the same, Harry Styles said:
“I think everyone, including myself, has your own journey with figuring out sexuality and getting more comfortable with it. I’ve never talked about my life away from work publicly, and found that it’s benefited me positively.”
