The actress will be celebrated today with a gathering of 150 guests – but Hayden Panettiere’s mum and boyfriend are said not to be invited

A special memorial is due to be held today [Sat 19th] in Malibu for the late actress Hayden Panettiere. Heroes actress Hayden died on August 16th aged 36 at a residence in South Carolina. It’s since been reported she passed away after taking suspected fentanyl-laced oxycodone pill, according to TMZ.

And as those close to her mourn her death in a celebration of life, reports say her boyfriend Brian Hickerson, his brother Zach and her mother Lesley Vogel have not been invited to the event. 150 guests are due to gather at the church, including her father Skip Panettiere and some celebs.

The news comes days after Brian spoke out about his girlfriend’s death for the first time. Brian, who had dated Hayden on and off for eight years and was present with his brother Zach when medics arrived according to reports, replied to a photographer who offered their condolences: “How do you think I’m doing?”

“Appreciate it – that’s all I got for you, man.”

Meanwhile, Scream star Hayden’s mother Lesley, who was estranged from Hayden for the last year of her life, has also broken her silence on her daughter’s death.

She told Good Morning America of her reaction of learning the news: “I couldn’t feel anything, I am still not grasping this is real. It just doesn’t, it doesn’t feel real. My mind tells me it’s not at times. You know, it’s going to be a process.”

Controversy surrounded her mum after Hayden wrote in her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, that at the age of 19 she informed Lesley she didn’t want her to manage her career anymore. Of which, Lesley allegedly replied: “You owe me.” Something Lesley has since denied.

News of Hayden’s death was originally broken by the actress’s father – Skip. In a statement he confirmed: “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden.

“She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”

Meanwhile a representative for the late actress said, despite reports of the alleged overdose, an investigation in her death “is still ongoing”

“Law enforcement has not disclosed who they are targeting, but I am told the case is complex. We hope to have more answers soon.”

Hayden left behind an 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, who she shared with boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

Mirror has reached out to a representative of Hayden for comment.
