NAGAPATTINAM: Most parts of Nagapattinam district experienced heavy rain, accompanied by thunder, for more than two hours Tuesday morning, affecting normal life.
Nagapattinam, Nagore, Velankanni, Keevelur, Keelaiyur, Thittacherry, Thiruppoondi, Thirumarugal, Thirukkuvalai, Meenambanallur, Karunganni, Melapidagai, Siyathamangai, and other places of the district saw heavy rain.
As the downpour happened during the morning peak hours, it severely affected school- and college-going students and the staff of private, state and Central government offices. However, the rain was welcomed by the farming community, saying it was a life-saver for the withering samba crops.
