Visakhapatnam:A Heritage Walk was organised in Araku Valley on Wednesday to create awareness among tribal students about the region’s history, culture, traditions and natural heritage.
Around 400 students from Government Tribal Welfare Schools participated in the programme. They learned about tribal customs, traditional arts and the local way of life, besides the importance of cleanliness, environmental protection and preserving tourist destinations.
District tourism officer Chalapathi Rao and assistant tribal welfare officer Venkataramana, along with headmasters, teachers and staff, attended the event. Officials urged students to become ambassadors of Araku’s heritage and promote sustainable tourism.
The programme carried the message, “Our Heritage, Our Responsibility; Our Culture, Our Pride,” and sought to strengthen students’ role in protecting the region’s cultural and natural assets.
