Liam Payne’s sister seemed to hint Cheryl’s latest Disney trip was a family adventure, sharing her own snaps of a ‘bittersweet’ holiday

Cheryl delighted fans with an extremely rare insight into her recent trip to Disneyworld with her son Bear. The Girls Aloud singer shares the nine-year-old with the late Liam Payne and usually keeps her personal life under wraps.

But the adorable update had fans gushing on her Instagram upload with fans taken aback with how tall Bear has grown. Among those leaving comments was Bear’s auntie Ruth Gibbins – the sister of One Direction’s Liam.

Ruth replied with a handshake emoji and a joke about riding famous ride, Flight of Passage.

Cheryl had wrote: “Somewhere in the corners of the world Magic still exists. I don’t know what took me so long to experience the joys of @waltdisneyworld but I completely escaped into my inner child for the last couple of weeks. What a wonderful place.”

After seeing Ruth’s reply, followers quickly realised that Cheryl and Bear had been joined on their trip by Liam’s family members. Ruth had shared her own photos on Instagram, calling the journey to Orlando a “bittersweet trip”.

Ruth uploaded a number of images and while Cheryl wasn’t seen in them, the timings appeared to show they were there at the same time. Ruth wrote: “Orlando [hand shake emoji] Paynes! Bittersweet, healing and at times so heavy hearted walking around and being on my brother’s favourite rides in his favourite place without him. Ashton’s first time to Disneyworld and my little thrill seeker absolutely loved it, it’s basically in his genes to love Disney, so magical. Always in your honour Liam, you’d have loved this trip.”

Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy was among the followers to like the post. In October 2024, following Liam’s tragic and untimely death, Cheryl spoke about the harsh reality of her son Bear going throughout life without his father.

She said at the time: “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being. Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”

Bear was born in 2017 after Cheryl and Liam, who met on the X Factor, began dating a year earlier. While the pair broke up before Bear’s first birthday, they shared their commitment to raising him together.

At the time, Liam said: “We still have so much love for each other as a family. Bear is our world.”

Tragedy struck in 2024, when Liam fell to his death from a hotel in Buenos Aires. He was aged just 31-years-old.

Since then, Cheryl has credited her mum and brother with being her ‘rock’ as she and Bear navigate their life without the former One Direction star.

Cheryl’s latest trip comes as she has had a rough year. Last September, following a long legal battle, her stalker was imprisoned. He was given a lifetime restraining order and ordered to a year in prison.

In a statement read out in court, Cheryl said the incident had a “huge impact” on her life and scared her son. The statement read “It’s had a huge impact – I have a young child to protect.

“It has made my young child scared. I have had to rely on security, family and friends for support. Why should I have to move because of Daniel’s behaviour? It’s unacceptable, terrifying and having a detrimental impact.”
