Callum Kerr and Lauren Stacy, proud parents to toddler daughter Isla, have announced they are having a baby boy later this year in an adorable social media post

Soap star Callum Kerr is going to be dad again just over a year after a heartbreaking family tragedy when his mum and stepdad were found dead in their French home.

Callum and wife Lauren Stacy have announced their incredible news and said they were expecting a boy towards “the end of the year”. The 32-year-old Scot, who played PC George Kiss on the Channel 4 show, uploaded two snaps showing himself and Lauren dressed in matching blue outfits.

The mum-to-be shows off her bump in a flowing dress as Callum places his hand on her stomach. Their daughter Isla, who was born in 2023, will have a younger brother to keep in line after the pair confirmed the happy news with a social media post on Monday.

Callum and Lauren married in a stunning Scottish ceremony at a castle in the Highlands in January. The happy day took place less than 11 months after Callum’s mum and stepdad were found dead in their France home.

Dawn and Andrew Searle, who were 56 and 62, were discovered in southwest France on Thursday, February 7 last year. French officials investigating the deaths have said it was murder followed by suicide. Post-mortem examinations confirmed Mr Searle died from hanging and Mrs Searle, suffered “multiple blows to the head with a blunt and sharp-edged object”.

The couple from East Lothian, Scotland, had moved to the picturesque hamlet of Les Pesquies, Toulouse a decade ago, relocating to a home with a swimming pool and a two bedroom flat to rent out.

Described as lovely, normal people by neighbours in Les Pesquies, the couple had both been married before when they walked down the aisle in France in 2023. Callum gave Dawn away and wished the couple a “tremendous life together” on social media.

Callum, who joined Hollyoaks in 2020, but he left in 2021, proposed to Lauren in 2024 after they welcomed their daughter in December 2023.

The actor wore a traditional black and green kilt while his bride stole the show in a pencil-strapped wedding dress. The couple were snapped grinning from ear to ear on their special day as they were surrounded by their nearest and dearest.

His character was placed at Hollyoaks High to reduce drug dealing on school premises. It was there that he met John Paul McQueen (James Sutton), and their relationship turned violent due to George’s jealousy of James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) and Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson), JP’s ex-partners.

Following his stint on the soap, Callum starred in the Netflix show Virgin River and also has stepped into a new career, working as a country singer based in Nashville.

He is still coming to terms with the tragic death of his mother. In a lengthy statement shared online in the aftermath of the harrowing discovery, her devastated children urged loved ones not to attend their step-dad’s funeral.

It read: “In the absence of any evidence suggesting third-party involvement in the tragic death of our mother, Dawn Kerr, the prevailing hypothesis remains that of a murder-suicide,” said Callum and his sister Amanda.

“Our mother was killed by multiple blows to the head, and Andrew was found deceased by hanging. His injuries are consistent with self-hanging, and no defensive wounds were found on his body. There is also no evidence whatsoever of any third party’s involvement at this stage.

“While the official investigation is still ongoing, we cannot ignore the circumstances as they stand. For this reason, we must respectfully but firmly request that our mother not be included in any way in the funeral arrangements being made for Andrew. Please do not share photographs of them together.

“Please do not attend Andrew’s service if you were a friend of our mother. It would be inappropriate for her memory to be associated with a service honouring the man who, based on all available evidence, may have been responsible for her death. We ask for understanding, privacy and respect as we continue to grieve and seek justice for our mum.”
