Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has left fans stunned after pictures of him on the set of Lizard Music show the actor in prosthetics that make him look 70 years old
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson looked unrecognisable as he transformed into an old man, with the help of an award winning Hollywood prosthetics team, for his latest movie.
The actor, who is a super fit 54, was spotted in Brooklyn, New York, on Tuesday, wearing a bucket hat, beige jacket, blue shirt and tie as he filmed scenes for upcoming family film Lizard Music. His face was made up to look wrinkled and aged, with a grey beard on his chin and grey hair peeking out from under the hat.
He carried a paper bag and a slice of pizza, stopping on road crossings and at flower stalls so that the cameras could follow his movements. The prosthetic makeup artist behind the look, Kazu Hiro, is the same person who transformed Tom Cruise into an elderly man for Digger and turned Gary Oldman into Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

The get-up is the actor’s look for Benny Safdie’s new film Lizard Music, in which he will play a 70-year-old known only as Chicken Man.
The film is based on Daniel Pinkwater’s children’s book of the same name. In it, a young boy, who will be played by Theo Leber, “stumbled upon strange lizard musicians” and, as a result, he winds up befriending a “peculiar man with an elderly chicken”.
The other cast members announced for the film include Rachel McAdams, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum and David Krumholtz in voice-only roles, as well as Alicia Silverstone and Regina Hall in live action roles. It is set for a Christmas Day 2027 release.
Speaking about the film at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival, Dwayne said it took just 45 minutes for director Benny to convince him to take part.
He said: ““Benny pitched me this after we wrapped The Smashing Machine, and after about 45 minutes, his pitch ended, and I said, ‘I am your Chicken Man,’” he said. “Now what that means is, without giving too much away, the role that I will play is a very whimsical and eccentric 70-something-year-old man called the Chicken Man, and his best friend is a 70-something-year-old chicken.”
The WWE star also shared that he shed 30 pounds of muscle for the role. This is not the first time Dwayne has undergone a huge physical transformation for an acting part.
In 2025, he played Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine, and had to wear eyebrow covers to enhance the brow bone, as well as prosthetics on the nose.
“I’m so excited to get a chance to hopefully transform again like I was able to do in ‘Smashing Machine,’” Dwayne said of his role in Lizard Music. “[It means] eating less chicken.”
