A day later, an amused Meyers discussed Trump’s rambling post, “calling me a deranged lunatic, and commenting that I talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers.”
Meyers says his first instinct was to ignore the insults. “But there is one thing that I simply have to address,” he said. “You can say I’m untalented, you can say I’m deranged, but I’m not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers! You’re the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!”

Then Meyers played a compilation of Trump discussing the topic over the years, repeating “catapult” 46 times like a meditation mantra. “Until you said something, I didn’t even know aircraft carriers had catapults!” exclaimed Meyers. “I’m not the talk-about-catapult guy. Just ask my friends.”
After Meyers tried to explain to Trump what the term “friend” means — “They’re like people who enjoy spending time with you, independent of financial and legal favors you can grant them”— he got to his main bone of contention. “You can say whatever you want about me,” Meyers said. “That is your First Amendment right, which I have too, right? We all have it, right? But how dare you say I talk endlessly about catapults?”
Meyers also called out Trump about other iffy claims in his Truth Social post. “You wrote, ‘I watched the show the other night for the first time in years.’ But just 10 months ago, you wrote, ‘I got stuck watching Marble Mouth Meyers.’”
Ha ha, OK, Seth will concede the “Marble Mouth Meyers” insult was pretty funny. Good one, sir. But Trump got “stuck” watching Meyers? The Late Night host doubts that. “I find it hard to believe you let other people decide what to put on,” Meyers said. “Everything about your vibe screams, ‘I call the clicker!’”
Then there’s Trump’s “haven’t watched in years” claim. Which post was accurate — the one that said he watched Meyers for the first time in years this week, or the one that said he watched for the first time in months in January?
“Do you not remember?” Meyers asked. “Is that how you end up posting six times about a new bathroom? Did you just forget the first five times?”
“Tomorrow, by the way, I’m probably going to wake up to a Trump post that says, ‘Seth Meyers won’t stop talking about the White House bathroom.’”
