Filip Hrgovic could fight Moses Itauma in August after dispatching Dave Allen inside three rounds on Saturday.

Hrgovic is an Olympic bronze medallist who’s previously fought top heavyweights, including Daniel Dubois, now the WBO world champion.

On Saturday Hrgovic swept Allen aside at the Eco-Power stadium in Doncaster and apologised to the deflated crowd afterwards.

“Sorry guys, I know I’m not the favourite guy round here,” he said. “It is what it is. That’s boxing.

“I’m moving forward to becoming heavyweight champion of the world.”

He added: “I started fast because I saw I was connecting.

“He was very open from the beginning so I wanted to finish him fast to make a statement.”

He insisted he was open to a fight with Itauma, the unbeaten rising star in the division.

“Moses never reached the promised land!” Hrgovic declared. “I want to fight with anyone in the division, Moses, anyone.”

If no injuries or cuts sideline him, he could be ready to box Itauma next in August.

“If I’m healthy – and I look like I am – no problem for me,” Hrgovic said. “I never run from any opponent.”

Queensberry Promotions’ George Warren believes that Hrgovic and Itauma are on course to fight. “They’re going to have to get it on at some point so let’s get on with it now,” he said.

After Hrgovic’s bout with Allen, Warren revealed the framework is already in place for a deal for Hrgovic to fight Itauma.

“That fight’s there, it’s done. Filip when he re-signed with Queensberry, he contracted with Queensberry on the basis that that was one of the options we could put to him,” Warren said.

“As soon as we’re back in the office that’s my job, to try and get that fight made and get it announced.”
