Kadapa: In a shocking incident in Kadapa, a man allegedly murdered his wife by poisoning her after planning the crime with the help of YouTube videos. The accused, identified as Kiran (35), a software engineer, has been arrested by the police.
According to police, Kiran married Padmaja eight years ago, and the couple has a seven-year-old daughter. The family had been living in Muddanur, while Kiran was working from home for the past five years. On April 24, the couple visited Proddatur to meet Kiran’s parents.
Kiran initially told police that his wife had collapsed in the bathroom during the night and died suddenly. He claimed he alerted ambulance services, who confirmed her death. However, Padmaja’s father grew suspicious and lodged a complaint.
A postmortem examination later revealed that Padmaja had been poisoned. During interrogation, Kiran confessed to the crime. Police said he had mixed poison in palakova and fed it to his wife. After she became unconscious, he allegedly smothered her with a pillow to ensure her death.
Investigators revealed that Kiran had been in an extramarital relationship and often quarreled with his wife. He reportedly cited her obesity and frequent demands for fast food as reasons for marital discord.
Police stated that the accused purchased the poison after watching online videos on how to commit the crime. He has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody under murder charges.
