NALGONDA: A 27-year-old private company employee was found dead in a swimming pool at a farmhouse in Koyyalagudem of Yadadri-Bhongir district after a weekend get-together, police said on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Gandla Ramu, a native of Srirampur in Mancherial district. He worked with Ascent Business Solutions at NSL Arena in Ramanthapur, Hyderabad.

Police said about 15 employees of the company had gone to the farmhouse around 5 pm on Saturday for a weekend trip. Around 2 am, Choutuppal police received a call saying Ramu had been found dead in the swimming pool.

Choutuppal circle inspector G. Manmadha Kumar said preliminary information suggested that some employees had quarrelled around 8.30 pm before continuing the party. Ramu was later found in the pool when another employee went there to swim, police said.

“We shifted Ramu to a private hospital at Choutuppal where the doctor confirmed he was brought dead. There were injury marks on the body of the victim,” the CI said.

Ramu’s father Gandla Anjaiah said his son had called him around 11 pm on Saturday and spoken to him. He told police that Ramu knew swimming well and consumed liquor only in limited quantity. He alleged that those who quarrelled with his son may have beaten him to death.

Based on Anjaiah’s complaint, Choutuppal police registered a suspicious death case and are questioning the employees. Ramu’s body was shifted to the government hospital at Bhongir for autopsy.
