Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Supreeth Reddy, who gained recognition for his role as ‘Katraj’ in Prabhas-starrer Chatrapathi, is facing legal trouble after allegedly assaulting a cab driver in the city on Thursday.

The incident occurred in Nagaram under the Keesara police station limits in Medchal Malkajgiri. As per reports, the cab driver identified as Srihari had just dropped passengers at Kundanpalli from Vanasthalipuram and parked near the Saibaba Temple in Nagaram to wait for his next booking.

Supreeth Reddy, who was driving his Toyota Fortuner through the same route, reportedly got enraged after finding the cab parked on the roadside. Police said the actor stepped out of his vehicle and physically assaulted Srihari. Residents intervened and alerted police. The cab driver sharing his ordeal with the media said that Supreeth had gotten down from his vehicle and assaulted him, and also snatched his phone and used abusive words against him. After his phone was returned, the cab driver went and filed a complaint at the Keesara Police Station.

A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway, Keesara police confirmed. Police said action will be taken based on CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts.

Supreeth Reddy has appeared in several Telugu films, but is best known for playing the antagonist Katraj opposite Prabhas in S.S. Rajamouli’s 2005 hit film Chatrapathi and several other films directed by the RRR director.
