HYDERABAD: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Saturday held a video conference with district collectors to review preparations for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) re-exam scheduled for June 21. He stressed the need for fool proof arrangements and directed officials to work in close coordination to provide candidates a hassle-free environment.
Principal secretary (Health) Christina Zongthu said 72,956 students would appear across 208 centres in 24 cities. She noted that infrastructure, transport, security, power supply, drinking water and other facilities were being readied.
Additional DGP Mahesh Bhagwat urged police to maintain constant vigilance and counter misinformation, including on social media. NTA director general Abhishek Singh said enhanced security protocols were in place, with the Indian Air Force engaged for the first time to transport question papers.
The meeting also reviewed paddy procurement operations and arrangements for the Chief Minister’s forthcoming district visits. Rao asked collectors to remain alert to rainfall forecasts, protect harvested paddy and expedite procurement. He directed elaborate preparations for the Chief Minister’s tours, covering public meetings, security, transport and accommodation.
