Hyderabad: Demonstrating high alertness, the Goshamahal police rescued a missing 45-year-old physically disabled woman and reunited with her family within hours of receiving a distress call.
At 9.30 pm on Wednesday, the constables G. Shambu Lingam and Thakur Ashish Singh were on routine patrolling duty within the limits of Goshamahal police station. They received a Dial-100 emergency call from a resident of Nagarkhana, stating that an unknown woman was wandering in their residential locality.
The patrolling staff rushed to the spot. Due to her condition, she was unable to articulate her identity and residential address clearly. For her safety and care, she was shifted to the Goshamahal police station.
During enquiry at the police station, the woman could only disclose her name as Padma (45) and mentioned that she belonged to Nagasanpally village. Observing her specific language and dialect, Lingam found that the village might fall under Wanaparthy.
Acting swiftly, Lingam contacted the Wanaparthy police control room, and sought information regarding the exact jurisdiction of the village. The Wanaparthy control room provided the contact details of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Dakuri Mariyapu Reddy of Srirangapuram police station.
Following up on the lead, the police contacted the Srirangapuram ASI, who conducted a quick local enquiry in Nagasanpally village. The local verification confirmed that a woman matching the description had indeed been missing for the past five days.
Thereafter, the woman’s son Boravelli Narender contacted the Goshamahal police station over phone, stating that his mother had gone missing from L.B. Nagar five days ago and they had been searching for her. He immediately rushed to the police station.
After thorough verification of credentials, Padma was safely handed over to her son. The family members expressed their immense joy and profound gratitude to the Goshamahal police for their prompt, empathetic, and professional action in tracking them down and ensuring her safety.
Inspector B. Sravan Kumar appreciated the quick responsiveness and investigative presence of mind by Lingam, Ashish Singh, and ASI Srinivas in resolving the case swiftly.
