Hyderabad: With charging guns and cables being stolen at the charging stations run by TG REDCO in the Greater Hyderabad limits, the authorities have decided to install CC cameras at all the 160 EV charging stations.

CC cameras have already been installed at more than 30 charging stations. More stations would be equipped with the cameras in the next few days. The cameras will help in preventing tampering and curbing theft at the charging stations, the officers said.

In Telangana, there are 1,063 EV charging stations currently. Nearly 816 more charging stations would come into operation under PM e-drive scheme. While 116 stations got permissions under the NPDCL, over 700 charging stations would be under the limits of TGSPDCL.

In Greater Hyderabad limits, there are 160 Fast EV charging stations under REDCO, and 40 more are being established. Private companies are setting up more than 27 charging stations. Efforts are underway to bring all these charging stations into one app.
