Hyderabad: The Hydraa has put up a fencing to stop encroachments on the Full Tank Level (FTL) limits of 12 acres of RK Puram lake in Medchal Malkajgiri district.
The R.K. Puram lake, which is also called Mukkidikunta has earned fame in the city as a mini Tank Bund. The Hydraa cleared encroachments spanning 12 acres and put up fencing.
It intervened to stop the encroachments where individuals had arbitrarily divided portions, constructing precast walls and fences within the lake’s FTL limits. It prevented those who had encroached and used the areas as cattle sheds and dumped waste into the lake.
It removed the sentry posts put up with precast walls. To prevent future encroachments at the lake, the Hydraa installed fencing. Likewise, it set up boards indicating the lake’s FTL lands.
The R.K. Puram lake spans a total of 75 acres and it has been developed as a mini tankbund. Within it, permanent structures have come up on 11 acres. Another spree of encroachments began on 12 acres.
Locals had lodged complaints in Praja Vani about the operation of a pig slaughterhouse within the lake limits, pollution from waste, and construction issues. After examining these complaints on-site with relevant officials, the Hydraa cleared the encroachments.
