I’m A Celebrity star David Haye has been backed by a former lover after the ex-boxer came under fire for his views and antics in the South African camp
David Haye has come in for some criticism following his behaviour and comments in the I’m A Celebrity jungle. But one person who knows him better than most has opened up about the real David Haye.
His ex partner Zoe Gregory has revealed what her life was like dating the former boxing champion. And she was quick to defend him following his “ugly birds” comment.
David, 45, described his current partner, Sian Osborne, as having the personality of an “ugly” women. Much to the shock of his campmates, he continued to explain what he meant. He explained that, while Sian is pretty, she has a similar personality to “ugly girls”, whom he thinks work harder to have a personality.

He said: “Most ugly girls realise they’re not pretty enough. They’ve got to have a personality, to banter and to tell jokes and s**t, so people overlook the fact that they’re not aesthetically amazing.”
Zoe, 51, met David at the Playboy mansion in 2003. Speaking about his latest comments, Zoe told The Sun: “I totally agree with him because everyone judges a book by its cover. People will look at me, blonde hair and big t**s, and assume that I’m a bimbo.
“That’s because most blondes are bimbos, unfortunately. Blondes are very ditzy and that’s why they get that label. I’ve found myself saying the same things as David.
“Being around the girls at the Mansion, the ugly ones were always overcompensating with their personality. They would feel, I’m not that great looking so I’m going to have to do cartwheels to compete with the favourites.”
Zoe went on to label the former sports star as “very complimentary”, but knew he was only after one thing. David’s partner Sian also recently defended her man’s remarks, saying she sees them as a compliment.
Sian, 33, told The Sun on Sunday he was trying to say she was a “girl so full of life and character that her looks become irrelevant”. She said it was not “inflammatory” and that people were “looking for something to be offended” over.
Sian also claimed she was bullied as a teenager for her looks, particularly her height. She explained that even the teachers made comments and when it came to school photos, they would put her in the centre and have everyone either side of her descended in height order “because they thought it was funny”.
Sian criticised people telling her to be offended as being “hypocritical”. She argued that feminism was about making sure women did not “have their choices made for them”. Therefore, she says, people telling her that she should be offended were “doing exactly what you claimed to be fighting against”.
As well as he words about women, David faced backlash recently in the I’m A Celeb camp over his treatment of Adam Thomas. David appeared to try to force the soap star into doing a challenge after he had admitted he wasn’t feeling up to it.
