The Clarkson’s Farm visitor found herself dealing with an unexpected setback during her visit, prompting Jeremy Clarkson’s partner, Lisa Hogan, to step in and help
A portrait artist has opened up about a disastrous moment that occurred while attending a sitting at Jeremy Clarkson‘s farm. Louise Pagnell is no stranger to meeting celebrities, having created artwork for a host of high-profile figures, including Princess Anne.
As part of her work, Louise also painted Jeremy. However, while doing so on his farm in 2024, she was struck by a painful back spasm.
After alerting both Jeremy and Lisa Hogan to her discomfort, Louise recalled how Lisa stepped in to help.
“Lisa Hogan showed me videos of what to do when you’ve got back pain. The day was a write-off,” she told Hello! Magazine.
The Clarkson’s Farm star sat for the portrait to mark his 64th birthday, with the artwork inspired by Grant Wood’s iconic 1930 painting, American Gothic.
Sharing a video reel of the painting at the time, Louise wrote: “Clarkson gothic. A portrait (+ rake’s) progress. Happy birthday @jeremyclarkson1”.
The artist’s famous painting depicts an American farmer holding a pitchfork, standing alongside a woman in front of a house.
Louise has since returned to the farm for further sittings, building a strong rapport with the former Top Gear presenter.
During one meeting, she recalled asking Jeremy to lift his chin, only for him to reply: “Which one?”
The Top Gear star took over the day-to-day running of Diddly Squat Farm in 2019 after the farmer previously managing the land retired. He had purchased the farm in 2008.
His efforts have been documented in the hit Amazon series Clarkson’s Farm, which returns for its fifth season on June 3.
A synopsis alongside the trailer reads: “Clarkson’s Farm is back, and amidst a government budget that sends the UK farming community into uproar, Jeremy decides some big changes are needed to make the farm run more smoothly.
“But while the crops get the high-tech treatment and there’s cutting edge new kit to play with, even bigger developments are heading for Diddly Squat 2.0 that are going to prove much more of a challenge.”
As part of those developments, the farm has introduced new technology to assist with day-to-day operations.
Speaking recently about the changes, Jeremy revealed that farmhand Kaleb Cooper was initially sceptical.
He told Closer Magazine: “Kaleb was deeply suspicious of all of it. The autonomous tractor especially worried him because he thought it was going to replace him. I quite enjoyed winding him up about that.
“But the technology is amazing. We now have detailed underground soil mapping that tells us exactly where soil quality changes across the farm,” he added.
“It means we only use fertiliser where it’s actually needed, which is much better environmentally.”
