HYDERABAD: Emphasising that neither the Congress party nor the I.N.D.I.A. bloc has ever
condemned the “malicious propaganda” being spread by the BJP.
In a video statement on Sunday, the MP alleged that special parliamentary
sessions were convened solely to gain political mileage in the elections in
Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. He accused the BJP of politicising the issue of
women’s reservation for electoral gains, while asserting that Congress and
the I.N.D.I.A. bloc fully support its implementation. He questioned why the
Women’s Reservation Bill, passed in 2023, had not yet been implemented after
2024.
Kiran Kumar Reddy pointed out that delimitation is scheduled to take place
only after the 2027 Census, as stated earlier by Prime Minister Modi and
Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He clarified that the Congress party and the
I.N.D.I.A. bloc are not opposed to women’s reservation but have serious
concerns over the delimitation process.
