Content creator Sam Wilder is on a mission to visit every Gordon Ramsay restaurant, recently visiting the chef’s burger kitchen, describing it as ‘Gordon Ramsay’s take on fast food’
A man who visited Gordon Ramsay’s burger restaurant was left surprised when he saw his bill. The celebrity chef has 88 restaurants across the globe, ranging from Michelin-starred fine dining to burgers and pizza.
YouTuber Sam Wilder decided that he wanted to sample each restaurant owned by the Scottish chef, including the three Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, London. But it was the chef’s Street Burger chain that left Sam surprised.
The content creator described the venue as “Gordon Ramsay’s take on fast food”. Once at the venue, Sam decided to plump for the £15 burger and fries, adding £1 chicken wings to his order.
Upon arrival, he was immediately impressed with the venue. In a video, Sam said: “The vibe in here is nice, it’s much more casual, especially when you go to the toilet and see how street they’re trying to be, graffiti everywhere.”
Sam described the menu as “simple,” noting there weren’t “too many” burger choices. He however felt compelled to opt for the “Idiot Burger,” a reference to a 2015 sketch from James Cordon’s Late Late Show, where Gordon places two buns either side of her head, calling her an “idiot sandwich”.
Sam said: “I literally have no choice in this. I have to get the idiot burger.”
He described his fries as “very well seasoned”. He added: “Nice little bits of paprika on there. Real crisp on the outside and really fluffy in the middle. That’s a good fry.”
Up next Sam sampled the Idiot Burger, which consists of barbecue beef short rib, a smashed beef patty, smoked cheese, mushroom, and red onion. After taking a bite into his meal, Sam said: “It’s not a bad burger.
“You know, the burger is really nice. It’s got a nice bit of mushroom. It’s actually really tasty.”
He did however feel the brisket was a touch overpowering. He added: “It’s good, it’s solid and it’s cheap.”
Alongside his meal, Sam opted for three chicken wings, coming in at £3. After sampling the wings, he was slightly taken aback by the level of heat, commenting: “I was not expecting it to be this hot. That’s a builder.”
Sam’s entire bill came to £22.75, something he described as “a lot better” than what he had paid at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, where he spent £390 for two people. When visiting the Chelsea venue, he did however note it was “one of 10” venues to be given the prestigious three stars.
He commented: “It’s expensive, yes, but an experience like this is unforgettable and usually once in a lifetime.”
While Sam admits Street Burger is “not the most fancy” burger he has eaten, he says it offers diners a chance to get a “gourmet burger experience”. He said: “You know, having tried the wings, having tried the burger, having tried the fries, it’s really well priced. All of this was 22 quid plus service. I’m pretty impressed.”
Sam added: “Good fries, good wings, and to top that off, it’s affordable. Street Burger gets the Sam Wilder seal of approval.”
