Iceland has made a big announcement affecting its UK stores.
Hard-pressed households could slash hundreds of pounds off their grocery bills this summer following Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse’s announcement of a massive money-saving overhaul across 1,000 UK stores and online. The supermarket chain has unveiled its ‘Frozen Pledge’.
The retailer explained it was “packed with discounts, deals and money-saving promises after new research revealed more than two-thirds (69%) of Brits say they are worried about rising food prices, with four in 10 (40%) admitting they have skipped meals to save money on food shopping”. Iceland said the Frozen Pledge has seen more than 200 frozen items reduced or included in special offers, marking one of Iceland’s most substantial customer savings schemes to date.
Shoppers will be able to grab bargains featuring a £1 meal section, £2 ice cream promotions, three for £5 on chips and vegetables, and £1 savoury pastries, while popular brands are also receiving significant reductions with 2 for £5 on McCain ranges and Best Ever Brands featured in an eight for £10 multi-buy promotion. Iceland has also announced its well-loved 10 for £10 deal will now continue throughout June and July, with additional products and seasonal items included as part of the supermarket’s largest frozen food transformation in years.
Richard Walker, executive chairman at Iceland Foods, said: “Doing the right thing for customers has never been more important and this Frozen Pledge is a huge commitment to both our new and existing shoppers. It’s one of our biggest ever refreshes on deals and now includes hundreds of our frozen products across our stores. We know people from all walks of life are continuing to feel the pressure of rising costs, so we want to help people save money just when they need it most.”
The promotions, rolling out in all Iceland and The Food Warehouse branches nationwide, follow Iceland Foods research showing that nearly three-quarters (74%) of Britons expect supermarkets to intervene and assist with the ongoing cost-of-living squeeze. The retailer stated these fresh deals and discounts should support shoppers who are hunting for bargains to stretch their budgets, with 49% confessing they base their meal planning on available offers instead of their actual preferences.
