Idris Elba is stepping away from his acting credentials to put on a completely different kind of show. The Luther star, 53, has been heavily linked with the vacant James Bond role, but has been instead given a ‘licence to thrill’ this summer.

Idris will be taking his spot behind the decks at iconic Ibiza nightclub Pacha for one night only as he makes a guest appearance during world-famous DJ Solomun’s residency.

As Solomun returns for the 12th consecutive season at the party island’s infamous venue for his Solomun+1 residency, he is welcoming a number of huge hitters to DJ alongside him. And one such person is the famous Hollywood actor.

He will also welcome Skrillex, Jamie xx and Anyma for another chapter in the +1 story. KETTAMA, DESIREE and Max Styler, also join Solomun for their +1 debut. And the top DJ welcomes back the likes of Âme, Dixon, Denis Sulta, Chloé Caillet and DJ Gigola.

Solomun will be opening and closing the season himself, with five all-night-long nights thrown into the mix throughout the action-packed summer. Since 2013, Solomun+1 has grown into a fixture of its own at Pacha Ibiza,.

In recent years, Idris has taken his DJ career more seriously, performing huge shows at the likes of Coachella. He was even behind the decks at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018.

As for four-time DJ Awards winner Solomun, he recently impressed with shows at Alexandra Palace in London as well as an appearance at Las Vegas’ The Sphere.

Ahead of his Ally Pally shows, Solomun opened up to the Mirror about his upcoming Ibiza season. He said: “Ibiza is my creative home.

“Each season brings something new, and next year will be no different, fresh music, unexpected line ups, moments people won’t see coming. The island has a unique energy, and it pushes me to try new things.”

And explaining what made him tick and his shows be so successful, he added: “The key is freedom. Every week, I allow myself to experiment, with new tracks, different directions, and a very eclectic line up with completely different sounds. I never want to repeat myself. That curiosity keeps the residency alive after so many years.”

He went on: “A DJ set is never a one-way thing. It’s always a dialogue. The crowd sends energy, I respond, and then they respond again.

“When that exchange becomes fluid, almost instinctive, that’s where the magic can happen. In the best moments, the room itself becomes part of the set.”
