New Delhi:The Indian military on Thursday said India demonstrated its capability “to strike deep, strike far and strike anytime” during Operation Sindoor, asserting that no terror sanctuary across the Line of Control is safe.
Addressing a joint press conference, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said India targeted terror infrastructure across the border and established a “new normal” in its response to cross-border threats.
Officials said around 100 terrorists were killed in strikes on nine camps on May 7, while more than 100 Pakistani soldiers were killed in subsequent exchanges. The military also said 11 airfields were targeted and 13 aircraft destroyed during the operation.
Indian Air Force Deputy Chief Air Marshal A.K. Bharti said the strikes were carried out using long-range precision weapons and that Pakistan was unable to inflict significant damage on Indian military or civilian infrastructure.
Lt Gen Ghai said the operation achieved its objectives without escalating into a prolonged conflict, adding that hostilities were ceased after Pakistan sought negotiations.
Senior officers also referred to security challenges involving Pakistan and China, stating that the armed forces were adapting to evolving threats and enhancing capabilities, including missile defence systems.
Separately, Director General of Naval Operations Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod said the operation demonstrated India’s ability to respond to asymmetric threats with calibrated force and compelled Pakistani naval assets into a defensive posture.
