BLOOMINGTON — The Indiana men’s soccer team has a chance to clinch at least a share of the Big Ten regular season title Wednesday night on the final day of the regular season when it hosts Michigan State at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
The No. 5 Hoosiers (13-1-3, 6-1-2 Big Ten) will go for their 20th regular season league title — 13 more than any other program — against a No. 9 Spartans team (10-3-3, 5-2-2 B1G) that’s also vying for the top spot in the conference.

Indiana and Washington are tied atop the conference standings with Michigan State sitting three points back. The Spartans need a victory to have a chance at sharing the league title while IU needs to match or better Washington’s result to win at least a share of the title.
The Huskies have a matchup scheduled against UCLA on Wednesday at the same time.
“Obviously we want to win a trophy,” Indiana coach Todd Yeagley said in a conference call with local reporters. “Our goal is to win a trophy and celebrate with our fans.”

The Indiana men’s soccer will look to clinch at least a share of the Big Ten title in a match against Michigan State on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026.
The results will also have big implications for the Big Ten tournament with the league’s top two seeds receiving byes through the quarterfinals and homefield advantage. If Indiana and Washington tie for first place, the Hoosiers have the head-to-head tiebacker and would have the seeding priority in the tournament.

“The one and two seed hosting and getting a bye is massive with the quality in this conference,” Yeagley said. “Being a one or two seed is really important, and that’s what we will be thinking about when we look to make tactical adjustments late in the game to be able to get that opportunity to be a one and two seed.”
It’s nothing new for Yeagley’s team.
Indiana has won five of the last eight Big Ten regular season titles and clinched one of those in similar circumstances by beating MSU on the last day of the regular season in East Lansing back in 2019.
The Hoosisers haven’t lost at home to their Big Ten rivals (4-0-2) since 2014 and are undefeated against ranked opponents this year (3-0-1).

“Michigan State 100% is a top group in this conference based on the way they’ve played,” Yeagley said. “I don’t know if they’ve been outplayed by a Big Ten team.”
Indiana will certainly be ready for the challenge coming off an impressive 3-1 victory over UCLA. The Hoosiers are tied for 25th in the country in total goals (35) and have only allowed five goals in nine Big Ten matches.
“I think we’ve been good in all phases,” Yeagley said. “Different checkpoints of the year, we looked at some numbers to back that up besides the eyeball. We were in the top 15 in the country of most attacking and defending statistics. We’re doing things well, not just on one end but the other. We have players that can make big plays.”
