Indiana vs. Nebraska prediction: College football Week 6 odds, picks, and best bets

Nebraska fans have been waiting for a game like this for a long time.

After a decade of mediocrity and false promises, the Cornhuskers are undefeated after five games and can vault themselves into the College Football Playoff conversation with a win over No. 7 Indiana (5-0) on Saturday.

It will be a rocking atmosphere at Memorial Stadium, but the Huskers will have to upset considerable odds to grab the biggest win for the program in a generation.

The Hoosiers, who are riding a 21-game winning streak, are 7.5-point favorites on Saturday.

Indiana vs. Nebraska odds, prediction

Upsetting the defending champions is no easy task, but Nebraska has to be champing at the bit for this opportunity given the scheduling break they got.

Nebraska just played its first road game in New Jersey last weekend, and now has to travel 1,300 miles to Lincoln to take on the Huskers in the middle of the Sea of Red. Further complicating things is the fact that Indiana hosts Ohio State next weekend.

Nebraska won’t get a better opportunity to score a win of this magnitude.

Not only did the schedule gods smile on the Huskers for this bout, but they’re also on a roll. Nebraska hasn’t played a top-25 team yet, but they are smashing the teams in front of them each week. The Cornhuskers are averaging 43.6 points a game, and they defeated their first two Big Ten opponents, Maryland and Michigan State, by an aggregate score of 79-36.

Matt Rhule’s offense has been the story in Lincoln, but the defense has done its part, too. Nebraska ranks 19th in FBS in defensive SP+ and is allowing just 4.4 yards per play (13th).

The Hoosiers’ offense has posted elite numbers once again, but Nebraska’s stout run defense stands a real chance of slowing their roll. The Huskers are allowing just 3.3 yards per rush, which is good enough for 25th nationally.

Indiana represents a massive step-up for Nebraska, but everything we’ve seen from the Huskers has indicated they can handle this test.

Throw in home-field advantage and a brutal schedule spot for Indiana, and you’ve got plenty of signals pointing to an upset.
