The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has cleared L’Oréal India’s acquisition of beauty and personal-care company Onesto Labs, the legal entity behind the Innovist personal-care platform.
In a statement, the CCI said: “The proposed combination pertains to the acquisition of 100% shareholding in Onesto Labs Private Limited (target) by L’Oréal India Private Limited (acquirer)”.
Onesto Labs was rebranded as Innovist in 2022. The business develops and markets skincare and haircare products under brands including Bare Anatomy, Chemist at Play, SunScoop and Vinci Botanicals.
Innovist’s portfolio also includes Anecdote.
L’Oréal disclosed in June its intention to purchase a controlling stake in Innovist.
As part of the deal, Innovist’s founders will hold on to a minority share and remain involved in running and expanding the company alongside L’Oréal India.
The brands under Innovist are set to be folded into L’Oréal’s consumer products division.
L’Oréal India carries out research, innovation, manufacturing, marketing, sales and export of beauty and personal care products across the country, covering skincare and haircare lines sold through multiple channels.
The company sells under several international brand names in India and runs manufacturing plants in Chakan, Maharashtra, and Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, alongside research and innovation centres in Mumbai and Bengaluru.
No financial terms of the deal have been made public. The CCI noted that a full order on the transaction is forthcoming.
In its latest half-yearly financial update, L’Oréal reported revenue of €23.77bn ($27.27bn) for the first half of 2026, marking a like-for-like increase of 6.8% and reported growth of 5.8%.
In July, L’Oréal and Gucci and Balenciaga owner Kering entered a 50-year exclusive beauty licensing agreement covering Gucci.
