
Moong Dal Halwa Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup yellow split moong dal (soaked for 4-5 hours)
- ½ cup ghee
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups milk
- ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
- A pinch of saffron (optional)
- Chopped nuts for garnish (cashews, almonds, pistachios)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Moong Dal:
- Drain the soaked moong dal and blend it into a coarse paste, adding a little water if necessary.
- Cook the Dal:
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ghee over medium heat. Add the moong dal paste and sauté for about 15-20 minutes, stirring continuously until it turns golden brown and aromatic.
- Add Milk and Sugar:
- Pour in the milk gradually while stirring. Then add sugar and mix well. Cook until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
- Flavor and Garnish:
- Stir in cardamom powder and saffron (if using). Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve:
- Garnish with chopped nuts and serve warm.
