Carl Webster has become something of a Coronation Street Lothario – but what do we know about actor Jonathan Howard’s love life?
Jonathan made his debut on the ITV soap last year, playing Carl Webster; the estranged brother of Kevin (Michael Le Vell) and Debbie (Sue Devaney). And it’s fair to say the bad guy has caused a ton of drama during his stint.
As well as striking up an affair with his sister-in-law Abi Wester (Sally Carman), Carl also caused the multi-car pile-up in Corriedale and gaslit his dementia-suffering mum Debbie into taking the blame for the crash, in which she went to prison.
He’s had his fair share of romances too on the cobbles, including Abi and James Bailey (Jason Callender). But away from the soap, who is actor Jonathan apparently dating? And who is his famous ex?
Jonathan’s famous ex
Jonathan was previously married to actress Elodie Yung, who is also a successful star. She has starred in the likes of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Daredevil. More recently, she played the title role of Thony De La Rosa in The Cleaning Lady.
Jonathan met Elodie when he moved to America after completing drama school. Going from strength to strength, the couple welcomed a daughter, Minavann, in 2018. And in 2020, the pair made things official and got married during the pandemic.
Elodie told TheDay.com: “It was during COVID, during lockdown. The cute part was we had another couple of friends (who) were here. Our parents are in Europe, my mom is in Paris, and his mom is in the U.K.
“So Jonny had his mom on his phone, and I had my mom on my phone, and they were all dressed up. They made an effort! And this is how we did it, which was fun.”
Jonathan’s ‘split’ from wife
With Jonathan being far away from America for Coronation Street, the actor previously revealed the struggles of not seeing his wife or daughter.
“The hardest part of this job is the heartbreak I feel not being with my daughter every day,” he said on Loose Women last year.
He added that she has a long summer break and was able to stay at his mum’s house where he grew up, just an hour away from Coronation Street.
Sadly, earlier this year, it was reported that Jonathan and Elodie separated last year – with the pair remaining close friends and co-parenting their daughter.
Jonathan’s ‘new soap romance’
In August, it was reported that Jonathan had started dating his cobbles co-star Olivia Frances Brown, who plays Jodie Ramsay. The pair sparked romance rumours after a series of social media posts, though either are yet to confirm a romance.
The soap stars posed alongside sun-soaked Instagram snaps while on a trip to Ibiza with their friends, including Hollyoaks’ Jamie Lomas.
Another photo featured saw Olivia and Jonathan on sun loungers on the beach. These pics were liked by James Nelson-Joyce, Olivia’s ex fiance and star of hit shows such as the BBC’s This City Is Ours, for which he was nominated for a BAFTA this year.
After posting his trip to Ibiza with Olivia, Jonathan posted pictures of a holiday to France with his daughter, who spent time with both of her grandmothers. Elodie was tagged in those pictures.
