EXCLUSIVE: Taylor Swift’s biographer, Anna Pointer, shares all the details about the star’s upcoming wedding to Travis Kelce. From superstar performers five wedding dresses, here’s what we can expect from the big day
It’s set to be the celebrity wedding of the century as superstar Taylor Swift, 36, is due to marry American football ace Travis Kelce, also 36, this weekend in New York.
Speculation has been mounting around the wedding venue, believed to be Madison Square Garden in New York with reports that 70 NYPD police officers are waiting in the wings to keep the wedding as private as possible. Although later reports speculated it could all be part of an elaborate hoax.
A string of A-list guests are expected to attend with Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Emma Stone set to be bridesmaids. Travis’ NFL friends and teammates, including Patrick Mahomes, his brother Jason Kelce and George Kittle are all on the guest list.
Their wedding comes just three years after they met when Travis confessed in a podcast that he had been trying to make contact with a friendship bracelet with his phone number on when the Eras Tour hit Kansas City. When she heard of his plight, the pair soon connected through mutual friends and two years later, they were engaged in August 2025.
Taylor Swift biographer, Anna Pointer, revealed to the Mirror that the big day will coincide with the weekend of the Fourth of July, Taylor’s favourite holiday, and she’ll take to the stage to sing.
“She’s very likely to perform, but she would never let slip what she was planning. Given how much she loves performing, she’ll want to make a big gesture like that,” Anna tells us.
Famous faces like Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks and Tim McGraw are all lined up to potentially perform. “It could be a duet – maybe even with Sir Paul. They go back a long way. They’ve got a lot of respect for each other as artists.”
“People said it was an Easter egg when she turned up at the NBA finals wearing a Stevie Nicks T-shirt. So whether Stevie Nicks will perform alone, or she could team up with Taylor, that could happen,” she says.
Tim McGraw – the country singer that Taylor’s first big single was named after – is also likely to perform but with some big names in the music industry including pals Ed Sheeran and Benson Boone
The celebrities don’t stop there; part of the rumoured 1,000-strong guest list includes Taylor’s 13 bridesmaids featuring best pals Selena Gomez, the HAIM sisters and Lena Dunham.
“She’ll have 13 bridesmaids to tie in with her lucky number. One will be Lena; Taylor was a bridesmaid at her wedding in 2021, so she’s likely to return the favour. Selena Gomez is a shoo-in for bridesmaid. They’re inseparable,” Anna tells us.
“The Haim sisters – Esther, Danielle, and Alana – are all likely to be bridesmaids, as are Emma Stone and Gigi Hadid. And then the cutest will be Jason and Kylie Kelce’s four daughters. Taylor and Travis are both really close to their nieces.”
The bridal party is likely to be completed by her best friends of years including Abigail Anderson and Ashley Avignone, making the numbers up to 13, Taylor’s favourite number that has followed her throughout her life.
No expense will be spared for the big day, with Taylor expected to emulate her recent record-breaking Eras Tour with multiple outfit changes throughout the event. Elie Saab is one of the favourites to design one of her dresses, having worked on some of the Eras Tour gowns, while Stella McCartney and Jonathan Anderson, creative director at Christian Dior, are also expected to have been called on.
“All the big designers had to submit their designs and sketches to Taylor and her stylist,” Anna says, “Jonathan Anderson is in the running to have designed the main dress that she wears for when she says her vows.
“There could be five or six dresses and whatever she wears for the rehearsal dinner will also be pretty showstopping. She could be spending much of her wedding day just rushing in and out of the changing rooms and coming out in a new dress.”
Taylor is said to be worth a cool $2.1billion, whilst Travis is worth $80 million to $90 million. Just the wedding alone could be costing a whopping $20 million, with security costs said to hit $160,000.
After a low-key hen party of cocktails and a quiet night in at her Rhode Island mansion to mark her last few weeks before she ties the knot, the honeymoon is expected to be equally low-key.
“They’ll want to go somewhere as off grid as they can. They’ve been to the Caribbean before and she and Travis went to Lake Como during the Eras Tour and completely fell in love with it there,” Anna says.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if they rock up in somewhere like Lake Como or Lake Garda or the Caribbean. Travis has got to get back to NFL training quite soon, and they wouldn’t want to be followed around the world so something low-key is more suited to them.
Whilst fans won’t have a front seat at her big day, Taylor – who is incredibly close to her loyal Swifties – will want them to be a part of one of the biggest events of her life through her music, which has documented her heartbreaks and previous romances with the likes of Joe Alwyn, Jake Gyllenhaal, Matty Healy and John Mayer.
“The way she chooses to share it with her fans will be through her music. We’ll get to hear snippets in whatever she happens to be writing next,” Anna says, “She’s really worked hard to protect her personal life, and she’s learned the hard way that when you don’t protect it, it can all go horribly wrong.”
True to Taylor form, it wouldn’t be a surprise if all the activity, rumours and ‘Easter Eggs‘ were just another big smokescreen and fans will be handed new music from the pop superstar, or even a headline gig at Madison Square Garden.
In true Love Story fashion, Taylor and Travis’ wedding will mark a brand new chapter for the couple as the pop star finally finds her Lover.
