Hemant Pareek’s story is a powerful testament to resilience and determination. Hailing from Biren village in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district, Hemant grew up in a modest household. His mother worked as a daily wage laborer under the MNREGA scheme, earning just ₹200 per day, while his father served as a local priest. A pivotal moment in Hemant’s life occurred when his mother was denied her daily wage by a contractor, who mockingly asked him, “Are you some kind of collector?” This insult became the spark for Hemant’s dream of becoming a civil servant.
Despite financial constraints and societal skepticism about his ambitions, Hemant embarked on his UPSC journey with unwavering focus. He moved to Delhi with only ₹1400 in his pocket, relying on the kindness of strangers for shelter and study materials. Many doubted his ability to succeed without coaching, but Hemant persevered through relentless self-study.
After an initial setback where he cleared the preliminary exam but failed to qualify for the mains, Hemant succeeded on his second attempt in 2023, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 884. He scored 912 marks—792 in the written test and 120 in the personality test—proving that hard work and determination can overcome any obstacle.
Today, Hemant is undergoing training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration to serve as an IAS officer. His journey has inspired countless individuals, demonstrating that no dream is too big when pursued with courage and persistence.
