Hyderabad:The IPS Officers’ Wives Association (IPSOWA) has stepped forward to support handloom craft, provide assurance to weaving families and create wider markets for traditional textiles. Under the leadership of association president Lalitha Anand and secretary Ritu Jain, an exhibition titled ‘Threads of Hope – Where Every Thread Tells a Story’ was organised at the Police Officers’ Mess, Masab Tank.
Artisans from Telangana and other parts of the country showcased their products. Traditional fabrics from Narayanpet, Gadwal, Pochampally and Mangalagiri, along with Jamdani, Kalamkari and Dubbaka linen sarees featuring hand embroidery, were among the highlights.
Speaking at the event, Lalitha Anand said traditional handloom arts hold a special place in the country’s cultural heritage. She noted that weavers and artisans have preserved their skills for generations, and initiatives connecting them directly with consumers would provide greater market opportunities and livelihood security.
The exhibition drew a positive response from families of All India Services officers, other officials and their spouses. Organisers and artisans reported business worth around ₹13 lakh, with many visitors purchasing handloom products.
