Due to their physical likeness, it was the perfect casting, and the 2024 film starred Hathaway as Solène Marchand, an art gallery owner, and Rubin as Izzy, Solène’s teenage daughter.
Rubin spoke to TODAY about a valuable life lesson Hathaway taught her during the making of the film, sharing: “(She) really encouraged me to apologize less unnecessarily.
“This person who’s my hero telling me like, this is not only harmful to you personally but also to your work and to the people around you.
“When you’re a leader on a set, you don’t want other women especially to feel like that’s something that they have to do. And so I really took that with me from someone I trust and respect so much.”
The show’s hosts, Sheinelle Jones and Dylan Dreyer, commented on the pair’s similarities, with Dreyer saying: “Sheinelle and I sat down and… we start staring at you and we’re like, ‘It makes so much sense that you played Anne Hathaway’s daughter.’ I mean, the resemblance is uncanny seeing you in person.”
Back in 2024, she spoke to Teen Vogue about how she has often heard she could be Hathaway’s doppelgänger.
“People always told me that I resembled her so I was like, ‘Oh, man, this would be awesome,’” she said regarding her casting in The Idea of You.
“I just love her so much. I think it would be impossible not to bond with her. She is such a warm, inviting person who’s not just interesting but interested, and she makes it incredibly easy to form a relationship because she’s so genuinely invested in what you have to say,” she gushed.
Fans have previously commented on the pair’s striking likeness, with one fan remarking on Facebook: “Omg! I seriously thought it was her at first!!” Another added: “It’s her younger twin!!”
