Jade Goody’s reality TV star widower Jack Tweed will appear in court after being charged with drug-driving where he was three-times over the legal limit

Jade Goody’s widower Jack Tweed has been charged with drug-driving after allegedly being found with almost three times the legal limit of cannabis in his system, according to The Sun. The former reality TV star, 39, is due to appear before magistrates on Monday after prosecutors alleged he was driving while over the legal limit for a specified controlled drug.

According to court records, obtained by the publication, Tweed has been charged with one count of “driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.” It is alleged that Tweed was behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf when he was stopped by police near Chelmsford, Essex, on December 6 last year.

It is understood Tweed was charged by post in March, with an initial court hearing scheduled for May later being adjourned until this week. If convicted, the former Big Brother star could face up to six months in prison, as well as a mandatory driving ban of at least 12 months.

An Essex Police spokesperson confirmed the charge ahead of his court appearance. They told Mirror: “A man is due to appear in court on Monday 3 August charged with a drug driving offence.

“Jack Tweed, 39, of Rous Road, Buckhurst Hill, was arrested on Three Mile Hill, Chelmsford on 6 December 2025. He was later charged with driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.”

Tweed first found fame through his relationship with Big Brother star Jade Goody, whom he met in 2005 following the end of her relationship with TV presenter Jeff Brazier, the father of her two sons, Bobby and Freddy. The couple’s high-profile romance played out in the public eye, with Tweed appearing alongside Jade and her mum Jackiey Budden on Celebrity Big Brother in 2007.

Although they briefly split in 2008 while Jade was appearing on the Indian version of the show, Bigg Boss, they later reconciled. Jack and Jade married in an emotional ceremony in Hatfield Heath, Essex, in February 2009, just weeks before she tragically died from cervical cancer at the age of 27.
