Two rounds of the Croatian League have been played this week, and there have been two big derbies, both in Dubrovnik.
Jug left the pool empty-handed in both derbies in its Gruz pool.
Jadran defeated Jug 14:12 in the 3rd round. The contest was close throughout the first half. Early in the third quarter, the teams were tied at 5:5. Jadran then scored two quick goals to take the lead 7:5 and held back all of Jug’s comeback attempts in the final quarter and a half. Dusan Matkovic, Duje Pejkovic and Lukas Seman scored three goals each for Jadran. Gergely Burian and Marko Zuvela led Jug’s attack, with four goals.
The other derby lacked excitement, as Mladost beat Jug 19:11. At halftime, the Zagreb-based team led 9:6. The third period was balanced (2:2), and Mladost demolished the hosts in the final quarter, scoring eight, conceding three goals. Marko Radulovic made the difference, with eight goals, and Bukic added three. Vlaho Pavic and Marko Zuvela scored more than half of Jug’s goals – three each. Mladost’ strongest weapon was powerplay shots, as the visitors scored 10 goals with an extra man from 12 attempts.
Jadran continued its winning streak, beating Primorje 15:8. Four players made the scoresheet – Matkovic, Skejic, Pejkovic and Curkovic netted three goas each for Jadran.
