Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Working President T. Jagga Reddy on Friday held a candlelight vigil over the alleged NEET paper leak and expressed support for Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s demand for accountability.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagga Reddy alleged that the NEET paper leak had severely affected the future of thousands of students and claimed that some students had even died by suicide due to the controversy. He further alleged that students had lost faith in the examination system despite spending years preparing for the exam. He also criticised the BJP-led Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the issue.

Jagga Reddy said Rahul Gandhi had raised concerns over the alleged NEET paper leak from the very beginning and had continued to question the Centre’s handling of the matter. He alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had announced a re-test following the controversy. He further claimed that several students who had performed well in the initial examination scored lower in the re-test, affecting their merit rankings and causing them distress.
