Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jake Bauers could draw interest from several teams after putting together a breakout season, but the New York Yankees do not appear to be among the clubs currently linked to him. New York could use another offensive option, although fitting Bauers into the lineup may prove difficult with Ben Rice at first base and Giancarlo Stanton serving as the designated hitter.
The Yankees could potentially find room for him, but Brewers manager Pat Murphy recently made a joke about the franchise while speaking with Bauers. MLB.com insider Mark Feinsand also left New York off his list of possible destinations for the free agent.

According to Feinsand, Milwaukee could bring Bauers back for another stint with the club. He also identified the Mets, Twins, Padres and Diamondbacks as teams that could pursue the first baseman in free agency.

The 31-year-old, has long shown flashes of the potential that made him an intriguing prospect. His MLB career has taken him through Tampa Bay, Cleveland, New York and Milwaukee, but he did not put everything together until the 2026 season. That breakthrough campaign saw him become an important contributor to the Brewers’ historic run to their first World Series title.

Bauers finished the season with a .266 batting average, an .874 OPS and 26 home runs. The timing of his career-best production could work in his favor, as he enters free agency positioned to secure a significant payday.

Still, if the Yankees enter the race for Bauers this offseason, it remains to be seen whether he would seriously consider joining a team that has drawn some pointed remarks from his current manager.
