Hours after the actor’s murder, she broke her silence about the tragedy to The California Post outside her home this morning. It was probably at that time that the media houses took some shots of her and published them online. James, who kept his life beyond acting highly secretive, never mentioned having a lover. It was only after his sudden passing that the world learned about his personal life.

Wendy Gledhill expressed grief over James Handy’s passing and revealed son was schizophrenic

Speaking with The California Post, James’ partner, Wendy Gledhill said she “can’t believe” her son allegedly stabbed the actor. Regarding how she was coping with the grief, she stated, “I’m just trying to make it through one day at a time, a minute at a time.” Earlier, in an interview with TMZ, Wendy revealed that her son, Michael Gledhill, has been struggling with serious mental health issues. She revealed that he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. Wendy mentioned Michael had become increasingly paranoid and had been prescribed medication for his medical condition.

Michael Gledhill was reportedly diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2025. In the same conversation, his mother said that she recently learned that her son had stopped taking his medicines about a week before police found James stabbed to death outside his home. Michael is now behind bars and charged with one count of murder. He is being held at the Van Nuys Jail with his bail set at USD 2 million. If convicted, he will face up to 26 years to life in state prison.
