Janhvi Kapoor makes a case for the balloon skirt in head-to-toe Miu Miu

Janhvi Kapoor knows a thing or two about wearing—and nailing—a Miu Miu look. A friend of the brand, often spotted in its chic styles, she was recently channelling Y2K-esque preppy cool in head-to-toe Miu Miu. Amid a slew of Indian wear looks she’s been sporting while promoting her upcoming movie Peddi, this comes as a welcome change. If Prada is the older sister, Miu Miu is most definitely the younger, brattier one—an aesthetic that Miuccia Prada herself continues to lend to this crowd favourite brand.

Kapoor is wearing a mini bubble skirt made with technical wind- and waterproof material that gathers perfectly mid thigh, allowing her legs to lead the look. A rejigged version of a staple of the early aughts, this skirt is apropos of a brand that sent the world into a tizzy not too long ago with its micro mini skirts. The matching oversized jacket with sporty stripes is borrowed from the ’80s, too, and features all the hallmarks of a utilitarian jacket—the raglan sleeves, elasticized cuffs and standup collar. The actor didn’t let the stifling Mumbai heat come in the way of styling the look over a shirt and V-neck cotton sweater.

For accessories, stylist Meagan Concessio turned to strappy heels and a diminutive statement Miu Miu Wander bag in blue with matelassé nappa leather. A pair of optical glasses and a small ear cuff were also added to the look to drive the nerdy look home. Artist Savleen Manchanda kept the makeup minimal with a coloured lip and flushed cheeks. The hair was pulled back into a chic bun by Sourav Roy.
