A new 220-meter suspension bridge has opened at Biwako Valley in Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, offering visitors a thrilling walk high above the mountains with panoramic views of Lake Biwa.
Named Sky Bridge, the new attraction stretches between two mountains at an elevation of approximately 1,100 meters, giving visitors the sensation of walking through the air while enjoying the spectacular scenery below.
The bridge is supported entirely at its two ends, without any intermediate pillars or towers. According to the operator, it is Japan’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge of its kind.
Visitors have already begun enjoying the combination of breathtaking views and a touch of adventure. One tourist from Gifu Prefecture said, “It felt great. I’d like to come back when the weather is better. It was quite thrilling and a lot of fun.”
With its unusual structure, sweeping mountain scenery and spectacular views overlooking Lake Biwa, Sky Bridge is expected to become a popular new sightseeing attraction at Biwako Valley.
