Jasmine Harman helps a couple contemplating retirement in Costa Blanca as A Place in the Sun returns.

A Place in the Sun host Jasmine Harman’s husband once fell seriously ill during filming.

Channel 4 hit travel programme A Place in the Sun is back with a brand-new season, and the first host hoping to help families find their dream home in paradise is Jasmine Harman. The 50-year-old presenter, who has been open about her personal life, began her career in health and fitness before moving to television, and she has led a fascinating life away from the cameras.

As a qualified fitness instructor, she lived in the Algarve, where she worked in the marketing department at a health resort. She later began hosting her own live magazine show on an Algarve radio station, Kiss FM.

The travel columnist and commentator has also been very open about her personal life and here is all you need to know about her family, from her mother to her husband and her siblings.

Jasmine Harman’s husband

Jasmine married her husband, Jon Boast, in 2009 and they have two children together. Back in November 2025, the TV host opened up about how her husband had a shock heart attack while the couple were renovating their Spanish home as part of a TV series.

During one episode of Renovation in the Sun, building work halted when Jon, then 45, was filmed being rushed to hospital after falling ill. He was told by doctors he had suffered a heart attack and he was aware that heart conditions ran in his family. Tragically, in 2016, his sister Jo died unexpectedly at the age of 40 from sudden arrhythmic death syndrome.

Jasmine told The Mirror in 2025 of her husband’s recovery: “Jon is fine now and he is back working. I know this sounds strange, but even with the background of what could have happened and worrying he could have died.

“It makes you feel lucky he just had a mild heart attack and everything is fine. But the challenges life throws at you has made me take things in my stride a lot better than I used to.”

Recalling the exact moment Jon started to feel ill, Jasmine said: “We’d just had lunch and he said he started to feel funny and strange. He went to lie down but he then started to get very agitated and said there was a tightening in his chest.

“He was having a bit of trouble breathing and everything that was touching him was annoying him. I immediately called the ambulance as soon as he said he felt funny.”

Jasmine Harman’s mother

Jasmine and her mum, Vasoulla, have been open about Vasoulla’s hoarding, and in August 2011, they both appeared in the BBC documentary My Hoarder Mum and Me. In the show, Jasmine and her siblings attempted to help their mother through an emotional personal journey, clearing more than 30 years of clutter so Jasmine’s 12-year-old brother could return home to live.

Vasoulla, who lived alone in a five-bedroom house in London, had been hoarding piles of old clothes, bags of toys, even broken bits of kitchen appliances. She could no longer access her bedroom and instead, she would clear a space on the floor of another room and sleep there.

Jasmine said of her mother’s journey on This Morning in 2023: “When I started working in television, it was my biggest fear that someone would find out about the way I’d grown up and the way that we lived at the time.” She went on to say how now, her priority is “having a loving relationship” with her mother and not “focussing on the hoarding” anymore.

Addressing her mother, Harman added: “She’s helped me to become a much more compassionate person. We used to fight, didn’t we? But now we have a relationship that’s outside [of the hoarding].”

Jasmine Harman’s siblings

Jasmine is the eldest of seven children, with two half-siblings on her father’s side, and one half-sibling on her mother’s. In 2021, she shared a rare social media post with all six of her siblings to mark National Siblings Day.

The photo showed the family members in a line-up during a garden gathering in the sunshine, before the coronavirus lockdown. “Me and my siblings in age order starting with the youngest,” she shared on Instagram. “Yes, I’m the eldest of 7! Love you all and can’t wait until we can all get together again!” she added.

She tagged her siblings Jim, Cameron, Madeline, Maria, Andrew and Johnny in the post.
