The Millville High School wrestling program is undergoing a switch at the top again.
Jason Bilinski is back as the mat boss while former head coach Scott Stay is expected to remain with the Thunderbolts as an assistant coach. Bilinski was approved by the school board on Monday night.

Bilinski returns to the top position he held for eight seasons before he was moved into an assistant role last winter. He led the Thunderbolts to an 18-4 mark and a Cape-Atlantic League National Division title in the 2024-25 season.
“I always wanted to take it back over after I dealt with some personal matters last year,” Bilinski said. “I couldn’t not be around it, so I took on a lesser role. In any case, with Scott, it’s like we have two head coaches anyway. It’s just a title, really.”

Bilinski said the program’s biggest challenge is getting more athletes out for the team. After experiencing an increase in participation numbers in previous years, the Thunderbolts’ roster was a little smaller last winter.

Millville athletic director Jason Kessler believes Bilinski’s ability to develop multi-sport athletes into successful wrestlers will be key to the program.
“Jason is very passionate about the success of this program,” Kessler said. “He’s very good at getting multi-sport athletes to go out for wrestling and turn their skills developed in other sports into success on the mat.”
After a standout wrestling career at Delsea where he won two Region 8 titles and later was a two-time All-American at Dana College in Nebraska, Bilinski had several coaching stints, including Gloucester County College (now Rowan College of South Jersey-Gloucester) before landing at Millville.
Stay was Millville’s head coach for 14 years from 2003-2017 before taking over the program again last winter and guiding the Thunderbolts to a 6-13 record.
