Vijayawada: The Jateeya Telugu Saraswata Parishad will organise the Jateeya Telugu Velugu Sambaralu at the Andhra Association Building on Lodhi Road, New Delhi, on July 28 to promote the Telugu language, literature, culture and artistic heritage at the national level.
The programme will feature the presentation of the National Vagdevi Lifetime Achievement Awards to personalities from different fields in recognition of their contributions. The Parishad will also present the National Vagdevi Special Talent Awards to achievers in literature, cinema, arts and social service.
The event was announced in Vijayawada on Saturday with the release of a commemorative book by Parishad president Mutyala Srinivas, organising president Kesiraju Ramprasad, general secretary Dr K.S.P.N. Varma, Alluri Sitarama Raju Smriti Vanam secretary Kantheti Venkata Raju and convener Areti Prakash.
Addressing the media, Ramprasad and Dr Varma said the celebrations would include literary seminars, poetry sessions, cultural, music and dance performances, competitions and the felicitation of poets and literary personalities.
The National Vagdevi Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to orator Vibhishana Sharma of Tirupati, Achanta MLA Pithani Satyanarayana, aqua industry entrepreneur Uddaraju Kashi Viswanatha Raju and retired IAS officer C.J. Venugopal, former Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha.
The National Vagdevi Special Talent Awards will be presented to S. Adinarayana, Gottumukkala Gandhi Bhagwan Raju, writer and actress Chitralekha, Kathimanda Pratap, actor E. Chandrahas and several poets, writers and artists from Delhi.
According to the organisers, Union minister of state for steel Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma will preside over the function, while Union civil aviation minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, other Union ministers, MPs, judges, senior civil servants and other dignitaries are expected to attend.
