“Be strong, Mahhi. We both know we’ll always be there for each other in hard times. Money was never between us and never will be. “You and Tara will always be my responsibility for life. A marriage status can never change the love and respect I have for you both. “I’m always here.”

Why did Mahhi Vij refuse to take alimony from Jay Bhanushali?
In the recent episode of Bigg Boss 20, Mahhi Vij was seen breaking down into tears after a tiff with Arishfa. The actress spoke her heart out about her struggles as a single mother. In the same conversation, Mahhi said that she is a single mother and only she knows how she survives every day.
Later in the conversation, Mahhi revealed that she didn’t take a single penny in alimony from her ex-husband, Jay Bhanushali, after their divorce. Mahhi said that during the proceedings, the judge asked her to consider alimony, but she refused because it was Jay’s hard-earned money.
She further clarified that Jay does offer to help, but she cannot ask him for money. Recalling the court proceedings, Mahhi revealed:
“I didn’t take a single penny in alimony or even ask for maintenance. I’m here on my merit, only to secure my daughter’s life. When I stood in court, the judge asked me four times to reconsider taking alimony or even maintenance. He insisted that I take it. I didn’t take it because Jay earned that money after working very hard.”
For the unversed, Mahhi Vij got married to Jay Bhanushali in 2011 after dating for some time. The couple adopted their caretaker’s two children, Rajveer and Khushi, in 2017 and welcomed their biological daughter, Tara, in 2019. At the end of 2025, rumours of Jay and Mahhi’s divorce surfaced online. After much speculation, Mahhi and Jay officially announced their separation in January 2026, 14 years into their marriage. The former couple said they chose to part ways while continuing to have each other’s backs.
At the premiere of Bigg Boss 20, Mahhi and Jay’s daughter, Tara, came to bid the actress farewell before she entered the house. After she entered the Salman Khan-hosted show as a contestant, Jay shared:
“The Don is in the house. All the best. Kill it, Tara ki mumma.”
