Veteran actors Jayaram and Urvashi are all set to share screen space once again in the upcoming Tamil comedy entertainer Parimala and Co, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 5.
Directed by Pandiraaj, the film has already generated considerable curiosity among audiences, largely because of the beloved on-screen pairing of Jayaram and Urvashi. Over the years, the duo has acted together in more than 25 films across Malayalam and Tamil cinema, becoming one of the most familiar and entertaining combinations for family audiences.
Apart from the lead pair, the film also features Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Ananthika Sanilkumar, Yogi Babu, Sandy, Mysskin, Poornima Ravi and GKM Tamilkumaran in pivotal roles.
While the makers have not officially revealed the complete plot, the film is expected to revolve around a murder mystery involving an ordinary middle-class family that suddenly finds itself caught in an unexpected situation. The blend of comedy and suspense appears to be one of the film’s major hooks. The project is backed by Lyca Productions, which has previously bankrolled several large-scale Tamil productions.

A much-loved screen pairing returns
One of the biggest talking points around Parimala and Co is the reunion of Jayaram and Urvashi, whose chemistry has remained popular with audiences for decades. One of their most memorable collaborations remains Panchatanthiram, directed by KS Ravikumar and headlined by Kamal Haasan. Their effortless comic timing and natural rapport have often been credited as a major reason behind the success of many family entertainers they starred in together.
In recent years, the pair reunited in the Tamil anthology Putham Pudhu Kaalai, which premiered on Prime Video during the pandemic and received a warm response from viewers.
Director Pandiraaj, meanwhile, is coming off Thalaivan Thalaivii, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen. Known for balancing humour, emotion and family-centric storytelling in his films, Pandiraaj appears to be returning to familiar territory with Parimala and Co.
The technical crew of the film includes cinematographer George C Williams, music composer Foxn, editor Pradeep E Ragav and stunt choreographer Kalai Kingson.
With nostalgia surrounding the lead pair and a quirky premise at its core, Parimala and Co is shaping up to be one of the notable Tamil releases of the coming weeks.
