Jeff Brazier threw an emotional farewell party for his son Bobby, who is set to leave the UK for New York after starring on EastEnders and competing on Strictly
Jeff Brazier threw an emotional farewell party for his son Bobby. The This Morning star, 47, is father to 23-year-old Bobby with late Big Brother legend Jade Goody, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 27 following a battle with cervical cancer, and his eldest is set to leave the UK to spend time in New York.
Saturday would also have been Jade’s 45th birthday, so Jeff made sure to raise a toast to his former partner almost two decades on from her tragic death.
He wrote on Instagram: “A wonderful little gathering last night. There were a few people wanting to wish Bobby safe travels because he soon departs for his NY adventures! I’m going to miss him so much! And also to raise a glass for what would have been Jade’s 45th birthday.”
Jeff, who is also dad to 21-year-old Freddy and recently became a grandfather when his eldest welcomed daughter Isla Jade in March, admitted it had been an “emotional” evening.
He added: “Lots of emotions swirling as you can imagine. Think I’m going to go and move my body before I actually have to say goodbye to the kid.” Bobby began to carve out his own career in showbusiness as a model before landing the role of Freddie Slater on EastEnders, appearing in the BBC soap from 2022 until 2025.
During his time on the programme, he also competed on the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing where, along with West End star Layton Williams, he was runner-up behind Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach, who lifted the Glitterball Trophy alongside professional partner Vito Coppola.
Since leaving the soap, Bobby has turned his back on the limelight, focusing instead on himself and his religious journey. In a street-casting video on social media, Bobby was seen walking down a London street when he was approached by a modelling scout.
“I’m actually moving to New York, soon,” he said when asked if he would be available to participate in a quick photo shoot. When asked which area of New York, the actor and model responded: “Well, I say New York, New Jersey.”
After the scout explained he was travelling to New York himself, Bobby suggested that they carry out the test shoot in the city that never sleeps. But he didn’t reveal why he’s decided to move to the States.
After Bobby’s exit from EastEnders, he began devoting his time to the Hare Krishna movement, which sources claimed stems from family tensions and his longing for happiness after a difficult childhood.
Bobby has become increasingly open about his devotion to a branch of Hinduism. He has recently been sharing posts on social media about how it has transformed his outlook on life.
He explained that through his relationship with God, he had finally found what he had been searching for following the emotional difficulties he had faced since his mother died when he was only five years old. In one Instagram Reel about a trip to India, he said: “It doesn’t get better than this. I have no real devotion, but by the mercy of the holy name and those great souls who do, I get to experience a little taste of their love of God and pray that this impression won’t leave me. Man, it’s so amazing.”
