The country singer, real name Jason Bradley DeFord, started dating the former OnlyFans star, 46, in 2016 and they got married just months later, following a whirlwind relationship. However, it wasn’t to last and he moved to officially end their 10-year marriage just weeks ago.
Following the news, they have been faced with scrutiny over their break-up, with many questioning if someone was unfaithful. However, addressing fans at a concert in Saratoga Springs, New York, last night, the 41-year-old insisted this couldn’t be further from the truth.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, he told the audience: “I wasn’t going to talk about this tonight but while we’re talking about liars, the internet is a liar, too. It’s the only time and the only city I’m going to speak about this, so break your camera phones out now.
“Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it, you can go watch it, every word of it is the truth.
“That will be my best friend forever. This will be the only time I will ever speak about it. Bunnie, I love you baby. Thank you for those 10 years, they were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship, and 20 beyond that.”
According to court records, Jelly filed for separation from Bunnie, aka Alisa DeFord, in Tennessee at the end of last month, citing a “private family matter”.
They have always had a rollercoaster relationship – just days before their wedding, the musician welcomed a son with another woman, and is also dad to a daughter from a previous romance.
His comments come shortly after Bunnie shed light on their decision on her Dumb Blonde podcast, vowing that they were “ending with love”.
“He is my best friend. He’s always been my best friend,” she said via Billboard. “I love that man more than life itself. … Even today, behind the scenes, your girl is still riding for that man.
“We stopped communicating together in the past year and a half, and I think it’s safe for me to say that I always loved my husband a little bit more than he loved me. I was always protecting him and always making sure he was okay, and always chasing him. I literally was the glue that held us together. That’s not taking a shot, that’s me being 100% honest. I was always the chaser.”
Explaining what led to their separation, she said: “J and I have never been really good at having disagreements, so we were the type of couple who never argued … He would be holding things in and I would be holding things in, and it was a recipe for disaster.
“On Mother’s Day, we had a little bit of an argument, which I don’t think the details are necessary, and in that argument, I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and said, ‘Well, then file the f**king divorce papers.’
“In our relationship, that is the one cardinal thing you don’t say, even though my husband has said it numerous times, because he’s the runner. But when I say it, it really holds weight, because I’m not the type of person who says what they don’t mean. I ended up leaving. I packed a bag and I left.”
“I didn’t talk to my husband for weeks after that,” she added. “He ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers. Was I blindsided? Was this divorce mutual? No, it was not mutual, even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration.
“But was it necessary for us to have a wakeup call? … Absolutely. … My husband and I are ending this marriage on the best possible terms that you could ever have a divorce.”
