Jessie J has revealed the great news that she is officially cancer free almost a year after she was first diagnosed with the disease

Jessie J has shared the brilliant news that she is cancer free 11 months after the initial diagnosis. The singer, 38, took to Instagram to reveal the happy announcement.

Jessie had been to hospital for her annual check-up and admitted she “sobbed for hours” after doctors told her the news. The video upload showed the singer in hospital, where she was preparing for an MRI scan.

She said in the clip: “So I’m back for my yearly check-up, I’m actually s*****g myself, I’m not gonna lie. They told me there was no contrast, but I think there is based on this,’ as she pointed out the cannula in her arm.”

She asked for “positive vibes” as she revealed the distress of having an MRI. “I might have to have a bigger bucket this time, for this big old b*** but fingers crossed, all good, positive vibes, don’t worry about a thing,” she said.

In the caption, she wrote: “RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE!! I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year.”

And her great news was met with huge congratulatory messages from fans and famous pals. Among them was Loose Women’s Andrea McLean, who wrote: “Ohhh this is WONDERFUL NEWS!!”

The artist, born Jessica Ellen Cornish, had surgery last June to remove one of her breasts after being diagnosed with “early” breast cancer. Following months of recuperation, she was recently forced to postpone tour dates after announcing she would require a ‘second surgery’.

At the time, she spoke candidly about how the diagnosis had affected her. In a poignant exchange at the Music Industry Trust Awards, Jessie reflected: “All of us here are going through stuff in life that we have to carry to work and leave at home or take to work.

“This year has changed my whole world. My perspective, what battles I’m going to pick, when death comes knocking at your door, and you kind of have to answer and f****** kick it away, it just changes everything.”

As the new year approached, Jessie had admitted she was feeling the “lowest” she had been for a while and had been “crying a lot”. Despite her usual messages of positivity during her cancer journey, she shared a more solemn update as 2025 came to a close.

Taking to Instagram at the time, the singer shared a snap of herself looking tearful. She wrote: “In all the highlight reels that are and are about to happen. This is an honest story post that will get blown up, I’m sure. But who cares.

“As truthfully in a world full of ‘everything is fine, I’m happy, I’m good, life is perfect’ there is greif [sic] hurt pain sadness heartbreak and reflection and processing happening this time of your for many of us, alongside the good and the great or on its own.

“This year has been heavy and hard in many ways for all of us, for me personally, one of the hardest but most magical years of my life. Personally and professionally.”

She added: “But all the sadness has come up this week, it’s the first time I’ve stopped (working and being in public in months) So I’m crying a lot. Writing s*** down feeling really low tbh. The lowest I have felt in a while.

“An accumulation of stuff just making its way to the surface and I’m letting it out. Don’t hold it in people. We are not superhuman or meant to be happy and positive all the time.

“It’s healthy and normal to cry, and if someone you love is crying don’t say ‘oh don’t cry’ say ‘come here’. Sending love to anyone feeling this way too right now. No positive end to this. Just I’m with ya. It’s s*** sometimes.”
